Over All Rating Reviews : I was ecstatic to be receiving this costume, as I've always wanted to be a ragdoll for Halloween. I have to say though, I wasn't very thrilled when I opened my package. It wasn't about the fit. I had ordered a medium (even though I fall in the sz 8-10 range) because going bigger with costumes is usually better. It fit me just right. The appearance of the costume itself is why this item doesn't get a 5-star review.
First off, I wish costume manufacturers would realize that just stuffing the costumes in their bags ruin them. Since this costume wasn't made with the smooth polyester but rather the scratchy kind (it sorta felt like the material used in closet organizers) it came out wrinkly. I didn't like seeing the fade spots on the blue portion either, makes it look cheap (my boyfriend is convincing me that it adds to the "ragdoll" appeal. Im unsure of that /:[) When I put the costume on I was kinda shocked to see how short and pouffy the dress actually was in comparison to the mfr's picture. I thought it would be longer and straighter, with perhaps a bit of a flare, but not so. I'm 5'5" with a short torso and legs, but my thighs are long and it hit above mid-thigh. The apron is see-through lace all over, not lace-trimmed, and all the bows are flat velvet. The bows resemble the cheap Christmas bows you get in a pack for $1, especially on the stockings. Those bows are just sewn together at the center. The stockings themselves are sewn in the back, with the line running down the back and under your foot to the toe. It's pretty bothersome at first to walk around with the stitch there. What's meant to hold these stockings up is an elastic that hopefully is sturdy enough to withstand a few hours. It might hold on my thick legs, but idk how it would do on a leaner leg. While these details don't make for a great costume, the part of this whole costume that disappointed me the most was the hat. It's cute and probably the non-cheapest looking part of it all, but it's stuffed to the max!! Idk how the hat is supposed to stay on ur head without an elastic. It looks tacky with your hair showing from underneath it. I plan on taking out the stuffing in the hopes that the hat will go over my head, and not just sit on top of it.
Overall, for the price it's not so bad. It's much better than the $49.99+ price tag it usually goes for. If you don't mind making some adjustments that involve a needle and thread, by all means purchase one for yourself. If you could borrow this costume from a friend, or get it even cheaper than Amazon, even better. This particular Ragdoll costume is the cutest one out there. Too bad it can't live up much to its price and sample pic.
